Emirates Islamic Bank sales and promotion campaign week...

Last week, it was Emirates Islamic Bank sales and promotion campaign week. We changed our plan totally; our ideas were to have posters, pop up, record video with the bank and radio advertisement. We got the permission for the pop up and radio advertisement from the Student Services Affairs and we talked to Hanas from the IT department and we went to see Vahithudeen (Audio Visual Technician) about the radio advertisement. In addition, we discussed with Fatema about recording video in Emirates Islamic Bank about how to deposit and withdrawal. Unfortunately, nothing turned out as we want, the bank didn’t allow our group to record the video even with permission from the college. Moreover, the pop up and the radio were considered as a not good way for advertising in the college, but my group and me we think it was a great idea because this is marketing promotional tool. Our planed switched to be posters, chocolate (car loan “INTALIQ”) and note books (covered with Al Reem advertisement).

What we have learned:

1. We should not depend on technical promotional tools and to try our best to create our own promotional tools.

2. To find alternatives and plan B if something went wrong.

Stressful week..

Last week, I had a really bad and stressful week. I had a presentation on Sunday, mock job interview on Wednesday and Midterm exam for corporate clients on Thursday. In addition, we had to promote for Emirates Islamic Bank during the same week. I scheduled my time to finish studying for the interview and the exam in each day a specific amount so I will prepare well for them. To promote for Emirates Islamic Bank me and my group we prepared good ideas like using the pop up to show all the students our poster and we got the permission for using it starting Sunday until Thursday in the same week. Unfortunately, our miss came during our promotional week and informed us that we can’t use the pop up and we have to look for alternative idea. We got upset and we couldn’t find anything to do for this campaign that is why we felt awful and we couldn’t concentrate in the other subjects.

Google Project reflection

Google project was a good experience for me; it was more than just project. Students were assigned to have a session about one of Google products and let the other students learn about it. For me I saw this project as a way to deal with the students in my class because it was the first time for me to train or present in front of most of them.

Regarding the topics, I liked most of them. Some of the topics I already know about how to use them like Google search engine, G-mail and Google Chrome and the rest were new topics. The good sides of this project that we experienced how it looks to be a teacher, how we can control the class and what methods we can use to deliver our ideas.

The bad sides or I could say the main problems were firstly the time that we are allowed to train the students was not enough. In addition, some of the students were not following the trainers so that affected the trainers’ grades.

Here are some of the pictures that I took in Zell am See ...

The school presentation..

On the 11th of October 2009, we had our presentation for the School Personal Finance Awareness Campaign. The group members (Maitha Al Suwaidi, Maryam Shaqooi, Nouf Adnan, Reem Alyasi) gathered at 12:00 PM in Dubai Women’s College to start preparing for the presentation. We arranged to present in front of students from Al Waha Secondary School (Al Aweer ) from grade 12.

When the students arrived our college, one of their teachers sent us SMS to notify us, some of the group members went to show them the way to the class. During this time, the rest of the group were preparing the presentation and the class for the students. They were 14 students and 2 teachers. At 12:15 PM we started our presentation and we talked about a curial topic especially for the school girls to start thinking about their money and how they can plan to use it. Some of the girls showed a big interest in how they can start opening a saving account and we explained for them in details as we have a background in the personal finance. In addition, we took pictures for us while we were presenting but their teachers refused to have one.

After 30 minutes, we finished the presentation and were pleased to know that our topic helped the students to start thinking seriously about how can they use their money properly and save it at the same time. Their teachers liked our presentation and they would like us to visit their school in the future to present any of our projects to their students in the near future.
